Nokia Lumia 710 VS Samsung Omnia W 8350
Cell Phones Comparisons — By Naveen Vaidhya on February 24, 2012 at 6:10 amComparing two Windows is something I’m doing it for the first time. Till now only Nokia, Samsung, HTC, Acer and Dell are ones who has been playing around with Windows OS, it is rumored that even LG will be launching a Windows phone in MWC. But here we are going to compare between two budget friendly phones: Nokia Lumia 710 and Samsung Omnia W I8350.
Operating System:

The OS cannot be really compared as both the phone has Microsoft Windows 7.5 Mango running in them.
Screen:
Nokia Lumia 710 has 3.7 inch screen with TFT capacitive touchscreen and resolution of 480 x 800 with ~252 pixel density.
Samsung Omnia W I8350 has 3.7 inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen and resolution of 480 x 800 with ~252 pixel density.
As you can see both the phones have exactly same features in screen, except that the Lumia has a TFT display and Omnia W has Super AMOLED. The difference here is that Nokia has ClearBlack TFT that gives 700 nit of brightness with right color rendering. The technology that Samsung is using is excellent with viewing angles and contrast. But here all that doesn’t matter as Nokia’s screen performance have always been good and have an impressive contrast ratio of 1000:1 but this is going to be a the biggest drawback for the Nokia phone, read on and you will know why.
CPU and Memory
Both the Finnish and Korean company has same hardware and memory. Both come with Qualcomm MSM8255 Snapdragon chipset, 1.4 GHz Scorpion processor and Adreno 205 GPU. In terms of memory both have only 8GB of storage memory with no expandable slot for memory and 512MB RAM.
Both the performances of the phone are same, so it’s a tie…
Camera:

On papers both the phones have same camera specifications. With both having 5MP camera and a resolution of 2592 x 1944 with single LED flash the real test was with actually testing them live.
The additional image stabilization in Samsung Omnia W is plus point and thus the image quality was better than the Nokia Lumia 710 but with a small margin.
Battery Performances:

In battery performances the Samsung Omnia W has larger capacity with li-ion 1500 mAh battery, the 200 milliamps doesn’t sound that much but its still better than the Nokia Lumia 710 li-ion 1300 mAh battery. With the web browsing test the Omnia W survived with a whopping 2 hours 40 minutes than the Lumia 710. This is all because of the bigger battery and power saving Super AMOLED technology. Even in video playback the Lumia was underperformer in front of Omnia. The Samsung Omnia W played continuous video playback for 7 hours 49 minutes but the Nokia Lumia 710 only for 3 hours 27 minutes. Again thanks to the Super AMOLED display.
Final Verdict:

The Omnia W and Lumia 710 both phones are really close if you see it from the start in terms of specifications, OS and camera. The breakdown comes in the battery performances. Both in web browsing and video layback the Nokia failed poorly. The Omnia even has slightly better camera too.
The ClearBlack display is no doubt a good technology but it sucks more battery that the Super AMOLED screens, which is as also good.
Nokia Lumia 710 Price in India is Rs. 15,490 and Samsung Omnia W I8350 price in India is Rs. 15,200.
Not much difference in prices but the Samsung Omnia W I8350 is better Windows phone than the Nokia Lumia 710 in almost all terms.
