To unlock the bootloader and for rooting, clock on the button with ‘Unlock + Root’ written on it. Now the main processes starts but fear not as the application itself will help you go with the step by step process to unlock and root the Nexus. Every new window will present you with information as well as with instructions, as to what to do next. Read all this thoroughly and closely, making sure you do exactly what is written on it. A time will come when you will be asked to wait, be patient at that time as the bootloader takes time to load. Unlocking the bootloader is no pain but there will be some minor issues while the rooting process is going on. When trying to reboot it into recovery mode, you phone will reboot automatically and show you a vicious triangle with the exclamation icon it. To fix this, unplug the Galaxy Nexus from the computer, close the rooting toolkit application; pull out the battery from your phone and do the process all over again.

If you have unlocked the phone and not rooted it, worry not, as the toolkit will know that the device has been unlocked and will directly jump to the rooting process.
Now enjoy the unlocked and rooted Samsung Galaxy Nexus!
Note: If you ever wish to sell the phone or want to give it for service within the warranty period then even the unrooting process is also possible from the same toolkit. Click on the ‘Unroot + OEM Stock’ button and follow the easy process and you phone will have Android v4.0 installed in clean manner in matter of few minutes.
